SGML document entity consists of the SGML declaration, document type declaration and document instance. MacSgmls can treat them that reside in one or more files.
In preferences of MacSgmls you can specify each conditions about an access path to the document folder, SGML declaration file and document type definition file.
Before parsing you should specify an access path to the document folder and the filename of SGML declaration.
If your document instance contains the reference to the document type definition file, do not specify it into preferences.
Choose a filename of document instance from the dialog box when parsing starts.
In finder if you drop document instance(s) into MacSgmls's icon then MacSgmls will read them.
MacSgmls assumes filenames by the filename template when MacSgmls detects identifiers during the parsing.
MacSgmls maps several files into an entity in the following stages:
(1) each carriage return character is turned into a non-SGML character;
(2) each newline character is turned into a record end character, and at the same time a record start character is inserted at the beginning of each line;
(3) the files which conform to the filename template are concatenated.
